Rolling terrain, mountains, forests, Oak Creek Canyon, and the Mogollon Rim are only some of the attractions to be found in the Coconino National Forest. With an altitude of about 7,000 feet the 1,827,435-acre forest has deep canyons in its southern region and the San Francisco Peaks in the north. Follow SR89A from Jerome to Flagstaff on a drive through the beautiful cypress, juniper, and pine trees along spectacularly colored red, white, and yellow cliffs in the Oak Creek Canyon. It is not recommended that vehicles pulling trailers more than 20 feet long travel the steep, narrow road.

games, hiking, and horseshoes. Phone service suspended October 15 to May 1.

Directions: Junction of State Hwy. 87 and FH3 Road. From Phoenix, drive north on I-17 to Camp Verde (exit 286, or 287). Take Hwy. 260 east approximately 30 miles to junction with Hwy. 87. Turn left and go approximately 10 miles to junction with Forest Hwy. 3. Turn left and go approximately 1/2 mile. First right turn. From Winslow, take Hwy. 87 south approximately 52 miles to FH3 (Lake Mary Road), turn right. Go 1/2 mile then first right to park. From Flagstaff, take FH3 (Lake Mary Road) approximately 62 miles SE of Flagstaff. Last left, turn before junction with Hwy. 87.
