In the foothills of New York State’s Allegany Region, with their own recreation staff and many points of interest in the area, 225-acre Allegany Mountain Resort is a vacation wonderland. The resort is well known for its theme weeks, with special events where you can either watch or take part in the fun and festivities.
Fine culinary cuisine, antique shops, gift boutiques, trees, and meadows can be found in the Village of Ellicottville. At the B&B Buffalo Ranch, just outside the Village of Ellicottville, you’ll see hundreds of buffalo graze in their natural habitat on New York State’s largest buffalo farm.
At Salamanca, the only city in the world located on an Indian Reservation, the Indian heritage comes alive through the abundance of local artisans who create their traditional arts and crafts. On the Allegany Indian Reservation, near Salamanca, the Seneca-Iroquois National Museum depicts the life and culture of the Iroquois Indians, with emphasis on the Seneca nation.
At nearby Mayville, you can take a step back in time and enjoy a 1-1/2 hour cruise on the Chautauqua Lake aboard the Chautauqua Belle, an old-fashioned paddlewheel steamship.
On your way to the shores of nearby Lake Erie, you’ll see the Chautauqua Gorge and travel through part of the Chautauqua wine country. Stop at some of the small wineries west of Westfield and visit the 1820’s McClurg Museum that contains period furniture, colonial farm implements, American Indian artifacts, a military exhibit, and genealogical records.
Amenities: Pavilion, indoor and outdoor pools, basketball, tennis and shuffleboard courts, canoes, kayaks and paddle boats, horseshoes, mini golf, corn hole court, 9 comfort stations, 3 laundry facilities, 3 dump stations, walking trail around 66 acre lake.
