Resort Profile

Glacier National Park, Yellowstone National Park, and the wonderful scenic byway across western Montana’s Rocky Mountains that connects the two parks create the perfect setting for this mile-high Smith River Valley campground. Conestoga Campground, as you might expect from its name, invokes both the spirit of America’s early travelers and the rugged beauty that inspired pioneers who made the trek to the heart of the old west. Today, the landscape still calls to travelers, enticing them to stop and take notice.

Montana is known as the “treasure state,” and this corner of the state lives up to the name. Encircled by 9,000-foot peaks of the Big Belt Mountains, Little Belt Mountains, and Crazy Mountains, the high-country scenery beckons you to explore and discover the wilderness treasures of the surrounding forests, rivers, and lakes teeming with elk, deer, eagles, and more. You can embark on your own outings or take advantage of the local outfitters, who offer hunting, fishing, rafting, cookouts, and horseback rides.

As exciting as the surrounding area is, don’t make the mistake of looking only to the adjacent lands and waters for fun. The community of White Sulphur Springs offers the perfect mix of small-town hospitality and big-hit summertime resort activities, all within walking distance of the campground. You can delve into the sagas of this land and its peoples by visiting the local museums and historical sites, or just relax by playing a round of golf at the new 9-hole golf course and driving range, taking a dip in the natural hot springs mineral baths, and casting a line in the campgrounds own trout pond.

Conestoga Campground offers a unique combination of historical, wilderness, and resort activities. They can be the source of those perfect experiences that forge unforgettable memories. Come once and you’ll find a way to come again.
