Resort Profile

Located almost in the middle of the world-famous Sacramento “Delta,” Lighthouse Marina offers its visitors a multitude of boating, fishing, and hunting experiences. The Delta, sometimes referred to as the Everglades of the West, is a rich farmland with more than 1,000 miles of waterways and hundreds of islands with historical towns. Houseboating and rafting are favorite ways of exploring this sportsman’s paradise.

An important wine-producing center, nearby Lodi has more than a dozen wineries and features a wine show and festival in the spring and fall each year. Just to the south of the resort is Stockton, the first of California’s two inland seaports. The home of the University of the Pacific, Stockton is connected with San Francisco by a channel 60 miles long and 37 feet deep. Boating and fishing are available in the 1,000 miles of navigable inland waters of the San Joaquin waterways. Honoring its favorite vegetable, the city holds an annual spring Asparagus Festival complete with an auto show, craft booths, live entertainment, and an asparagus recipe contest.

Only an hour’s drive to the north are the tree-lined boulevards and elegant Victorian homes of Sacramento, the state’s capital city. The State Capitol building was built in 1860-74 and is noted for its dome that rises 210 feet above the street. The interior houses historical art exhibits, murals, and statuary. Plants, shrubs, and trees from all over the world have been planted in the park that surrounds the building.

Of interest to many of the visitors to Sacramento is the California Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial with 22 black granite panels memorializing 5,822 of California’s dead and missing. Built entirely by donations, the $2.5 million project displays exquisite full-relief bronze figures depicting the realities of daily life during the Vietnam conflict.
