Resort Profile

With a half-mile of lake frontage on the Tennessee River’s 68,000 acre Guntersville Lake, Mountain Lakes Resort offers endless hours of water activities and recreation for the entire family. Guntersville Lake is noted for its national fishing tournaments and other water sports. Golfers will enjoy the 18-hole golf course at the Guntersville State Lodge & Convention Center, located only seven miles from the resort. It is less than a two hour drive to either Huntsville’s Space Center or Chattanooga’s Lookout Mountain.

Huntsville is home to NASA’s George C. Marshall Space Flight Center. It was originally created to design NASA’s rocket propulsion systems, but later became involved in all aspects of the space program, including spacecraft and experimental research and development. At the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, you’ll touch the past, present and future of space exploration at the world’s largest space science exhibition. Take in daily demonstrations and hands-on exhibits, or experience an OMNIMAX movie in the Spacedome Theater. Grab a bite at the Lunch Pad, watch future astronauts in the U.S. Space Camp Training Center and take a spine-tingling, deep-space voyage on Journey to Jupiter. Guided bus tours are offered to Marshall Space Flight Center.

Also only a two-hour drive from the resort, beautiful scenery is the attraction at Lookout Mountain. From its top, Lookout Mountain affords its visitors a breathtaking view of seven states. On the mountain, Point Park overlooks the Chattanooga and Moccasin Bend of the Tennessee River. In the Rock City Gardens, you’ll find spectacular natural rock formations and beautiful gardens. In the foothills of Lookout Mountain, near Gadsden, is the Noccalula Falls Park, where creek waters plummet 95 feet from a limestone ledge within the park. Highlights include a covered bridge, botanical garden, and a pioneer village of split-log buildings, complete with accessories.
